The Mountain Home High School basketball team’s final game before Christmas ended on a rough note on Saturday. The Lady Bombers fell to West Plains 62-34.

The first half was mainly a game of runs. There were a pair of lead changes in the second quarter, and the Lady Zizzers were up three at the break. West Plains turned it up a notch in the second half, as Ashton Judd broke out for 14 points in the third quarter alone. In addition, the Lady Zizzers outrebounded Mountain Home 19-8 on their way to a 28-point victory.

Amelia Rucker led the Lady Bombers with 15 points. Judd scored 35 points for West Plains, and Allyssa Joyner added 10.

The Lady Zizzers improve to 7-1 on the season. Mountain Home falls to 2-8, and their next game will be Dec. 28, when they meet Flippin to open the Ultimate Auto Group Basketball Tournament.

The Bomber boys’ next game is Tuesday, when they host Rogers.

Mountain Home’s freshman team took the court against West Plains’ high school junior varsity squad.  After giving up the first 16 points of the game, the Junior Lady Bombers’ comeback attempt fell short, and they fell to the J.V. Lady Zizzers 50-47.  Mountain Home was led by Jayla Yonkers with 16 points, Laykin Moore had 13, and Sarah Williams chipped in 10.  The game will not count toward the Junior Lady Bombers’ record.  Mountain Home remains at 9-2, and they will face Douglas MacArthur from Jonesboro on Jan. 3.
