A 31-year-old Mountain Home man pled guilty to violating his probation in a drug-related case Monday and was sentenced to five years in prison, with three suspended and two to serve.

The plea came during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court.

Michael Anthony Behrens was put on probation for six years in June 2019 in a case in which he and two other people were charged with selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant on Sept. 10, 2018.

In the petition to revoke Behrens’ probation, it was alleged he had violated the terms and conditions of his probation in a number of ways.

He was accused of not reporting as required, failing to provide a valid address and evading supervision.

The state dismissed three felony cases filed against Behrens in which he had been charged with participating in a fight in the Baxter County jail, forgery and theft of property.

Behrens’ most unusual arrest in Baxter County came in early March when a homeowner called the sheriff’s office and reported she had discovered someone in the crawl space of her residence located on Old Tracy Ferry Road.

The intruder fled on foot after being discovered.

The homeowner provided a description of the man and his clothing. Baxter County sheriff’s deputies located the suspect in an area along Arkansas Highway 5 South and identified him as Behrens.

No felony charges were filed as a result of the incident.
