
Due to the weather forecast predicting thunderstorms, Friday’s Buffalo National River New Year’s Eve Star Party has been postponed.

Buffalo National River officials have scheduled a New Year’s Eve Star Party Friday evening from 6:30 to 8.
Rangers will meet participants at the Steel Creek Boat Launch to discuss the evolution of astronomy as a science, the bright future of the science and showcase the winter night sky phenomena.
Attendees are asked to wear appropriate cold weather clothing, bring blankets and/or lawn chairs and be mindful of the effects of bright headlights and flashlights on their night vision as they enter the program area. Telescopes or binoculars are recommended. The National Park Service will provide a limited number of telescopes for viewing.
Red or warm-colored flashlights/headlights for the short walk between the parking lot and program area are recommended. Parking will be available at the boat launch.
