
The North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament held its semifinals Thursday in Harrison. On the girls’ side, Norfork defeated Jasper 66-31, and Mountain View fell to Clinton 55-48. In the boys’ games, Ozark Mountain topped Shirley 65-59, and Marshall was edged out by Mountain View 48-46.
The Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational Tournament came to an end at Highland. In the Maverick Division, Calico Rock finished fourth with a 70-52 loss to the host Rebels, and Melbourne ended up fifth by squeaking by Middle College from Memphis 76-74. Mammoth Spring did not play on the final day.
Izard County took third place in the Outlaw Division with a 63-54 victory over the junior varsity team of Harding Academy from Memphis. Gunner Gleghorn led the Cougars with 32 points, Denton Reiley scored 13, and Tyler Hill added 10. Izard County improves to 11-7 on the season.
Gainesville’s boys finished fifth in the Cabool Holiday Tournament. The Bulldogs routed Plato by a final of 75-45.
The Viola girls hit 12 three-pointers to win the fifth place game of the Holiday Hoops Classic in Berryville over Pocahontas. Audrey Newberry led the way with 21 points on seven three-pointers.
Dora ended up fifth in the Mountain Grove Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament by beating Hartville 51-41. The Lady Falcons were led by Cassidy Hambelton with 26 points.
The Mammoth Spring girls fell short of the title in the Lady Blackhawk Holiday Invitational Tournament at Pea Ridge with a 54-45 loss to the host team. Brynn Washam was the Lady Bears’ top scorer with 14 points. Mammoth Spring drops to 16-6 on the year, and they’ll face Cotter on Tuesday.
Bergman’s girls took home the championship trophy of Hoops for Hunger at Russellville. The Lady Panthers beat the host Lady Cyclones 71-54.
