This year’s Republican primary for the position of Baxter County judge is now a three-way race. Kevin Litty announced Wednesday morning he will run to succeed Mickey Pendergrass, who announced Tuesday he will not seek reelection.

Litty has served as a justice of the peace in the Baxter County Quorum Court for the last six years. His experience on the court includes work on the budget, personnel and building committees.

In addition, Litty has served as an officer in the Mountain Home Police Department for 28 years. According to his announcement, he and his brother also formed the 2L Cattle Company in early 2000.

Litty says he has a “deep understanding of working with people and the laws protecting the city.” In his announcement, his pledge is to “keep moving Baxter County forward as a member of the elected officials team.”

Litty and his wife have two sons, a daughter and five grandchildren.
