Passenger injured when vehicle strikes embankment, overturns on icy road

An Ozark County woman, 51-year-old Jennifer R. Failla of Gainesville, was injured Thursday morning when the vehicle she was a passenger in traveled off the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

Failla was transported by ambulance to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield for treatment of what were described as “moderate” injuries.

Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred 12 miles south of Ava on Missouri Highway 5.

The vehicle was driven by 50-year-old John D. Failla, also of Gainesville, who reportedly lost control of his SUV on the ice-covered roadway. According to the report, John Failla was not injured in the 10:30 a.m. accident.
