Saturday basketball results include MH junior high teams getting swept at home

Saturday was a rough day for Mountain Home’s junior high basketball program after getting swept in four games by Greene County Tech.
The freshman girls’ game saw the Junior Lady Bombers fall to the Junior Lady Eagles 54-35. Mountain Home drops to 10-3 on the season and 1-1 in the Northeast Arkansas Conference.
Mountain Home did not fare any better in the freshman boys’ contest, as they lost to Tech 42-34. Drew Haney led the Junior Bombers with 16 points. Mountain Home drops to 9-5 on the year.
Mountain Home also lost the eighth grade boys’ game 37-29. The Eighth Grade Bombers fall to 1-6 on the year.
The day began with Mountain Home’s eighth grade girls falling to Tech 30-15.

Two area junior girls’ teams got beat in the Hillcrest Junior Tournament. Norfork lost to Sloan-Hendrix 40-23, and Mammoth Spring was edged out by Corning 40-39.

The Melbourne High School teams had mixed results after playing in the championship games of the George Kell Classic. The Lady Bearkatz destroyed Marmaduke 67-28. Melbourne’s boys went to overtime but fell to Rector 58-56.

Two area boys’ teams competed for seventh place in the Seymour Bank Winter Classic.
