Edge seeking reelection as Baxter County JP for District 5

Maryanne Edge has announced she will seek reelection to the Baxter County Quorum Court as District 5 justice of the peace.

Edge is seeking her third term on the court. She previously served on the court for 10 months in 2014 when the governor appointed her to complete the term vacated by the prior JP who moved out of District 5.

Edge has served on the personnel and budget committees. She says she considers herself to be a conservative Republican and would like to continue to be of service to the citizens of Baxter County.

Edge retired from the Baxter County Sheriffs’ Office Administration Department in 2013, having worked as the records management coordinator. She also served as a reserve deputy sheriff from 2010 until taking office as the JP for District 5 in January 2019. She believes that her experience as a Baxter County employee has given her insight into the needs of county employees.

Edge works part-time for Brooks Jeffrey Computer Services, where she has done clerical work since 2014.

Edge is a past president of the Baxter County Historical & Genealogical Society (BCH&GS)and also served as editor of its quarterly journal for over nine years. She enjoys researching and documenting local history and has compiled several books for BCH&GS. She previously served on the board of directors of the Mountain Home Cemetery and was says she was instrumental in having the original portion of that cemetery added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

Edge moved to Baxter County with her family in 1959 and is a graduate of Mountain Home High School. She has resided in District 5 for the past 19 years.
