Monday hoops results include area girls’ team winning match up of state ranked teams

A few area high school basketball teams saw action Monday night.

In boys’ games:
-Mountain Home Christian Academy (MHCA) blew out Ozarks Christian Academy 72-48. Gideon Spray led four players in double figures with 19 points, Gabe Spray scored 17, Jordan Woods had 16, and Dawson Bingham finished with 14 points. MHCA won the junior boys’ game 48-37. Kolby Woods had 15 for Mountain Home.
-Yellville-Summit lost at home to Lifeway Christian 60-56.
-Marshall topped Hector 65-52 to improve to 18-7 on the season.
-Bergman moved to 27-6 on the year with a 68-43 win over Greenland.
-Mammoth Spring was edged out by Ridgefield Christian 66-64. Brayden Cray led the balanced attack with 16 points, Blake Rogers scored 15, and Garet O’Dell had 14 points, as the Bears fall to 16-13 on the campaign.
-Harrison defeated Shiloh Christian 52-40.

In girls’ games:
-Yellville-Summit let a nine-point halftime lead slip away in a 42-39 loss to Lifeway Christian. The Lady Panthers are now 17-5 on the season.
-Marshall lost to Hector 66-37.
-In a battle of state ranked teams, Mammoth Spring turned back Marmaduke 69-65 to move its record to 22-6. Megyn Upton scored 21 points for the Lady Bears, Brynn Washam had 20, and Tay Davis added 10.

In junior high action:
-Both Izard County teams picked up wins in the opening rounds of the 1A-2 District Tournament at Viola. The Junior Cougars defeated Shirley 64-33. The Junior Cougars were led by Kasen Black with 16 points, and Xander McCandlis added 13.

-The Junior Lady Cougars defeated Calico Rock 64-33. The Junior Lady Cougars were led by Quinn Johnson with 17 points.
