MHHS gets swept at Siloam Springs

Wednesday was a rough night for the Mountain Home High School basketball teams, as they were swept in makeup games at Siloam Springs. Matt Sharp has the details.

The night started with the Lady Bombers falling to the Lady Panthers 40-27. The game stayed close for the first three quarters with eight lead changes and four ties. Siloam Springs was up three at the end of the third quarter, but in the final period, they held Mountain Home scoreless on their way to a 13-point win.

Amelia Rucker led the Lady Bombers with 12 points. For the Lady Panthers, Brooke Ross scored 14 points, and Mimo Jacklik added 12.

Mountain Home falls to 5-19 on the season and 2-9 in the 5A-West. Siloam Springs improves to 16-7 and 7-4.

The Bomber boys did not fare any better, as they lost to the Panthers 51-33. Mountain Home had a similar start to their game Tuesday against Russellville, as they went up 9-3, but Siloam Springs then took over. The Panthers hit nine 3-pointers to widen the gap and post the 18-point victory.

No one was in double figures for the Bombers. Siloam Springs was led by Nate Vachon with 15 points, and Josh Stewart chipped in 12.

Mountain Home drops to 3-20 overall and 1-10 in the league. The Panthers are now 18-5 and 10-1.

Both Mountain Home teams will be in Greenwood on Friday for the second of three straight road trips.
