
The filing period kicked off at noon Tuesday in Arkansas for political party and school board candidates with the expected flurry of activity. Tuesday afternoon at 3 the nonpartisan filing period for prosecutors and judicial candidates opened.
Other filings in Baxter County included John Pate for sheriff, incumbent Treasurer Jenay Mize, incumbent Collector Teresa Smith, incumbent County and Circuit Clerk Canda Reese, incumbent Coroner Bradley Hays, incumbent Surveyor Charles Slater and William Lucas for District 4 constable.
Incumbents filing for seats on the Baxter County Quorum Court included Cameron Davis, Dennis Frank, Rhonda “Tink” Albright and MaryAnne Edge. Also filing for the quorum court was Richard “Rick” Steiner.
A race has developed for Mountain Home School Board between incumbent Barbara Horton and challenger Carrie Ramsey. In addition, incumbent school board member Arnold Knox filed for reelection.
At Cotter, Jimmy Morgan filed for reelection to the school board, with incumbent Chad McGowan filing for the Norfork School Board.
Republican Stetson Painter of Mountain Home filed for the District 3 seat in the Arkansas House of Representatives. The seat is held by Rep. Nelda Speaks who announced she would not be seeking reelection to what has been District 100. Following the redistricting process, the Arkansas House and Senate districts have been renumbered.
In Marion County, while no races developed, there were a number of filings. Gregg Alexander filed for sheriff, incumbent Dawn Moffet for county and circuit clerk, Carla Purdome for collector, Anthony Todaro for treasurer and Jim Collins for coroner.
In Boone County, a three-way race for District 5 has developed. Incumbent Republican Ron McNair is being challenged by Hilary Grace Cleaver and Jim A. Hall. Both filed as Independents.
At the county level, a three-way race for sheriff has developed with the filings of Roy Martin, Mike Moore and Mark Foresee.
Two candidates filed for Boone County judge, incumbent Robert Hathaway and challenger Bobby Woods.
Two candidates filed for county treasurer, incumbent Sandy Carter and challenger David Thompson.
Other filings in Boone County included incumbent County Clerk Crystal Graddy, incumbent Circuit Clerk Judy Kay Harris, incumbent Assessor Brandi Diffey, incumbent Collector Amy Jenkins and incumbent Coroner Jake Mattix.
In Stone County, a four-way race has developed for sheriff. Republican candidates filing Tuesday included Brandon Long, Nathan Masterson, Bradley Joel Breeding and David Burnett.
A two-way race for Stone County judge has developed between Republicans Robert Huckleberry and Jim Nesbitt.
There was one school board filing reported from Stone County. Lori Dobbins has filed for the Mountain View School Board.
In Fulton County, a three-way race has developed among Republicans David Curtis and Kenneth Crow and Independent Todd Doty for county judge.
There is also a three-way race for sheriff in Fulton County among Republicans John David Cawvey and Jacob “Jake” Smith and Independent Dallas Montgomery.
Other filings in Fulton County included incumbent County and Circuit Clerk Vickie Bishop, Collector Michalle Watkins and Treasurer Barry Abney. Cari Long filed for Fulton County assessor.
