All area schools are closed once again Friday, but road conditions are improving. A check with local law enforcement indicates main highways are in great shape in the Twin Lakes Area. Most of them are dry with occasional patches of ice. The heavier-traveled streets have improved but still have some ice on them. Side streets and parking lots continue to be the problem, with many still ice covered.
A check of the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s website idrivearkansas.com shows highways in Baxter and Fulton counties have patchy ice on them. Highways in Izard County are listed as having slush. Highways in Marion, Stone, Searcy, Boone and Newton are listed as clear.
The Missouri Department of Transportation’s website traveler.modot.org shows highways in Ozark County are partly covered. Most highways in Douglas, Howell and Taney counties are listed as mostly clear.
There are still a number of cancellations in the area. The complete list is available at ktlo.com/cancellations, brought to you by Baxter Regional Medical Center.
