2nd suspect in Lakeview store burglary arrested

A second suspect in the burglary of a convenience store in Lakeview has been arrested. Gassville police made a traffic stop on a vehicle Sunday afternoon in which 55-year-old Sean Patrick O’Neill of Gassville was a passenger. O’Neill, along with 59-year-old Daniel Holmes of Cotter, allegedly broke into the Valero station on State Highway 178 in Lakeview Dec. 9.

According to the probable cause statement, Holmes was arrested the following day at his residence after a truck matching the description of the one used by the two men who broke into the store was spotted at a residence on Harding Boulevard in Cotter. Officers found several items at Holmes’ residence that were taken during the robbery, including a display with knives and cigarettes. Holmes was brought in for questioning and admitted he and O’Neill had committed the crime.

O’Neill is facing a trio of felony charges in connection with the break-in, including commercial burglary, theft of property and criminal mischief. O’Neill picked up additional felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying prohibited weapons after the traffic stop in Gassville when the officer found the drug items and a set of brass knuckles. O’Neill also has a warrant out of Searcy County.
