High school basketball makes up much of the local Saturday schedule with the continuation of state tournaments in Arkansas and Missouri.
Four area teams will have their openers in the Class 1A State Tournament at Morrilton. On the girls’ side, Norfork and Jasper tip off at 1, and Western Grove meets Greers Ferry West Side at 4. Calico Rock’s boys face Ozark Catholic at 2:30.
Two area teams will be in Junction City for their first games in the Class 2A State Tournament. The Salem girls take on Lafayette County at 4, and Melbourne’s boys play the host Dragons.
Two area girls’ teams will square off in the opening round of the Class 3A State Tournament on the south campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. Mountain View and Valley Springs get underway at 1 at the Pioneer Pavilion.
A trip to the Show Me Showdown is on the line for the Dora girls. The Lady Falcons will be in Republic, as they will be paired with Blue Eye in the quarterfinals of the Class 2 State Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 1.
