
The Melbourne High School girls’ basketball team invoked the mercy rule on its way to its fourth consecutive state championship. The Lady Bearkatz extended their win streak to 66 games by routing Bigelow 63-30 for the Class 2A title Friday night in Hot Springs.
Kenley McCarn finished her high school career as the tournament’s most valuable player. The Tennessee-Martin signee led Melbourne with 31 points, and she was six-of-nine from 3-point range.
The Lady Bearkatz wrap up the season at 35-0.
