One man is dead and two others have been arrested following a shooting incident Tuesday night. West Plains Police Chief Stephen Monitcelli says officers were called to the 14-Junction Truck Stop on U.S. Highway 63 North at 10:53 Tuesday night for reports of a subject being shot.

Responding officers located a 34-year-old man who had been shot numerous times. The victim was transported to Ozarks Healthcare where he was pronounced dead. Chief Monticelli says the victim’s name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

Witnesses at the scene described the vehicle the suspects had fled in. Deputies from the Howell County Sheriff’s Office recognized the description of the vehicle and located it at a residence in the county. Deputies found two 22-year-old males in the residence who were brought in for questioning, with one of the suspects implicating the two as involved in the shooting.

The two suspects are being held in the Howell County jail pending the filing of murder charges by the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office. Their names have not been released.
