West Plains homicide victim identified, suspect charged

The identity of a victim from a Tuesday night shooting in West Plains has been released. According to the West Plains Police Department, the victim has been identified as 34-year-old James Harlan Vineyard, a West Plains resident.

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as 22-year-old Damian Paul Henry. Henry has been indicted for murder in the first degree and armed criminal action. No bond has been set.

West Plains Police Chief Stephen Monticelli says officers were called to the 14-Junction Truck Stop on U.S. Highway 63 North Tuesday night for reports of a subject being shot.

Responding officers located Vineyard who had been shot numerous times. Vineyard was transported to Ozarks Healthcare where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is being conducted by the West Plains Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
