Wednesday baseball results: Izard County scores 43 runs in double header sweep

A few area high school baseball teams saw action Wednesday afternoon.

-Viola won both ends of a double header against Mammoth Spring by the same 11-1 scores. The Longhorns are now 7-7 on the season while the Bears fall to 1-13.
-Calico Rock lost to Greers Ferry West Side 17-4. The Pirates are now 0-5.
-Izard County scored 43 runs in a double header sweep of Shirley, winning by scores of 15-0 and 28-0 to improve to 11-1 overall and 7-0 on conference play.
In the first game, Noah Mosley had four hits and drove in four runs and Gunner Gleghorn had two hits and three RBI to lead the offense.
In the second game, Izard County scored 19 runs in the first inning. Garrett Roberts finished with four hits and four RBI, Gleghorn had a home run and drove in three, Landon McBride had two hits and two RBI, Xander McCandlis drove in three runs and Honza Machaty had a pair of hits and two RBI.
