The Calico Rock Museum and Visitors Center has had ongoing renovations for a little less than three years.

The newly completed facility contains 14,000 square feet between three historic buildings and includes a visitor center, artisan gift shop, history museum, science center and art gallery.

A public ceremony for the dedication of the museum will be held Saturday morning at 10. The ceremony will take place inside The Nook event center located in Peppersauce Alley behind the museum. The Nook is a newly renovated space available to reserve weddings, corporate functions, special events and more.

The museum is overseen by the Calico Rock Community Foundation, an organization created to provide essential services and resources for the local community.

The Calico Rock Community Foundation is responsible for the operations of The Marketplace, The Nook, The Tomlinson Art and Science Center and The Heritage center on historic Main Street in Calico Rock.

The Calico Rock Museum and Visitor Center, established in 2009 and formally dedicated on April 12, 2014, occupies two of the oldest surviving buildings in downtown Calico Rock.

In 2007, a group of citizens formed the Calico Rock Organization for Revitalization Efforts (CORE) to begin searching for a location to preserve local history and promote tourism to the area, thus leading to the purchase of the E.N. Rand building in 2009, for $80,000, (built in 1903) and the Bluff City Bank Building for one dollar, (built in 1896).
