
It was a busy Tuesday for high school baseball and softball in the area.
On the baseball diamond:
-Norfork blasted Lead Hill 21-1 to push their record to 14-3.
-Cotter downed Yellville-Summit 11-5. The Warriors improve to 7-6 while the Panthers fall to 8-8.
-Bakersfield shut out Flippin 1-0.
-Izard County squeaked by Viola 3-2 to improve to 14-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Gavin Stephens led the offense with three hits and two RBI. Xander McCandlis drove in the other run. Denton Reiley earned the win on the mound, giving up just three hits and striking out 10 in seven innings of work.
-Salem was a 10-1 winner over Sloan-Hendrix to improve to 9-7.
-Dora lost to Conway 15-7.
In softball action:
-Norfork lost to Lead Hill 9-4.
-Izard County put together a big comeback to top Viola 8-7 to push their record to 8-3 overall and 4-3 in league play. The Lady Cougars were down 6-0 in the fourth inning before scoring three times in the fourth inning, three times in the fifth and two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the win. Quinn Johnson finished with three hits and two RBI, Makensie Yancey had three hits and an RBI, Hollie Johnson had two hits and drove in a run and Katie Orf and Natalie Glass each drove in two runs.
-Melbourne blanked Flippin 12-0 to push their record to 10-3. Flippin falls to 13-5.
-Salem run-ruled Sloan-Hendrix 10-0 to improve to 10-6 on the season.
-Marshall was a 5-3 winner over Maumelle Charter to move to 7-3 on the year.
-Mountain View lost at Bald Knob 12-2.
-Harrison topped Prairie Grove 11-7.
