
Regional tournaments begin this week for baseball and softball in Arkansas. Fifteen area baseball teams and 13 softball teams will compete for a state tournament bid.
Three local baseball teams will begin action in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament Thursday at Mansfield. Cotter meets Mountainburg at 10, Flippin faces the host Tigers at 3, and Yellville-Summit takes on Lavaca at 5:30.
Four area teams will be in Marked Tree Thursday for the start of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament. Mammoth Spring gets underway with Greers Ferry West Side at 10, Norfork plays the host Indians at 12:30, Viola will be paired with Hillcrest at 3, and Izard County meets Armorel at 5:30.
Omaha is the designated host school for the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. Ozark Mountain faces Scranton at 10, Jasper takes on Ozark Catholic at 12:30, Lead Hill plays Western Yell County at 3, and Omaha will be matched up with County Line at 5:30.
Two area teams will be at South Side-Bee Branch Thursday for the opening day of the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament. Melbourne gets started against Quitman at 10, and Salem meets Bigelow at 5:30.
Bergman goes to Greenland for its opener in the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament. The Panthers face Booneville Thursday at 12:30.
Harrison will play the first game of the Class 4A North Regional Tournament Thursday at Morrilton. The Goblins take on Dardanelle at 10.
Mansfield will also be the site for the Class 2A West Regional Softball Tournament, and three local teams will take the field Thursday. Flippin and Magazine have the opener at 10, Yellville-Summit plays Lavaca at 12:30, and Cotter goes up against Johnson County Westside at 5:30.

Omaha will host the Class 1A Region 1 Softball Tournament starting Thursday in Harrison. Ozark Mountain plays Western Yell County at 12:30, Omaha will be paired with County Line at 3, and Lead Hill meets Mulberry at 5:30. Jasper has a first round bye, and they’ll play Friday in the semifinals.
Melbourne’s softball team will be at South Side-Bee Branch for the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament. The Lady Bearkatz face Bigelow Thursday at 12:30.
The Valley Springs softball team will take part in the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at Greenland. Thursday will feature a battle between Lady Tigers as Valley Springs takes on Charleston at 12:30.
Harrison will have the last opening round game in the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Morrilton. The Lady Goblins play Clarksville Thursday at 5:30.
