
Heading into the month of May, Mountain Home was above average for rainfall. But, with the wet start to the new month, that surplus may increase greatly. Through the first seven days of May, 5.49 inches of rain have been recorded at the KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot studios, the official reporting station in Mountain Home for the National Weather Service. The average rainfall for the entire month is 5.68, meaning we are just 19 hundredths of an inch shy of what we should normally receive for all 31 days.
May is statistically the wettest month of the year in Mountain Home, especially in recent years. A check of weather records for Mountain Home, available at ktlo.com/weather, shows four of the wettest Mays in Mountain Home history have occurred in the last 10 years. That includes May of 2020 when 14.95 inches of rain fell making it the wettest May on record.
Heading into the month, rainfall in Mountain Home was exactly 2.5 inches above normal. Through April, 19.69 inches of rain have been recorded while the average through the first four months of the year is 17.19 inches.
April, which is the second wettest month of the year, saw rain fall on 17 of the 30 days.
While rain has been the norm lately, possible record breaking heat will move into the region early next week. Highs are expected to be in the lower 90s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. All three days have record highs in that range, so some of those records could be tied or broken.
