A Gamaliel man who has a record of criminal cases being opened against him dating to 2015 was back in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Thirty-five-year-old Matthew Edward Gauger entered a guilty plea to charges of stealing a number of items, worth slightly more than $4,000, from a local business.
He was given eight years in prison.
Gaugers latest arrest came in early March after he was detected stealing items from the store.
The asset protection department at the business began building a case against Gauger. Video surveillance showed him taking items without paying in November, twice in December last year, and again in February.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the items Gauger is alleged to have stolen from the store included cordless tools, welders, a trailer and decorative sheet metal.
In a three-month period, Gauger is charged with taking slightly more than $4,000 in merchandise.
Revocation petitions in three Baxter County cases and one Marion County case were dismissed by the state.
