Thanks to a Mountain Home Eagle Scout, new life jacket loaner stations can be found at four area boat ramps and swim beaches on Norfork Lake. The stations were completed by Connor Strack, with assistance from other scouts and adult volunteers.
According to the Ozark County Times, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mountain Home Project Office agreed to the project and provided the materials. Loaner stations are located at Gamaliel Park Boat Ramp, Cranfield Park Boat Ramp and Swim Beach, Panther Bay Park Boat Ramp and Swim Beach and the Tecumseh access.
The stations are intended to provide life jackets for boaters and swimmers forgetting to bring their own. Visitors are encouraged to borrow a life jacket if they need one and return it to the loaner station for others to use when they are finished.
Stations are equipped with adult-, child- and infant-sized life jackets and instructions on how to properly use them.
