Three motorcyclists die when hit by wrong-way driver on I-40

A cluster of six motorcycles traveling westbound on I-40 east of Dyer, in Crawford County, was struck by a wrong-way driver in a pick-up truck traveling eastbound on the westbound side of the freeway.

The crash occurred Thursday evening shortly after 6 and resulted in 3 deaths and 6 injured. All motorcyclists and a passenger on one of the motorcycles were from southern Louisiana.

The driver of the pick-up truck going the wrong-way on the freeway, 29-year-old Ivan Santos of Norman, Oklahoma, was one of the 6 injured.

At this time, according to Arkansas State Police, it is unknown why Santos was driving eastbound on the westbound side of I-40.
