
Sunday’s severe weather activity led to large hail, wind damage, flooded roads and multiple power outages.
Baxter County was one of the areas where tree damage was reported. The National Weather Service says it received a social media image of a tree blown over onto a truck in Big Flat.
A portion of another tree was reported down in Douglas County on old Missouri Highway 5 between Ava and Missouri Highway 76. In Taney County, an area of strong winds from 60 to 70 miles per hour was reported, and several trees were down from Kirbyville to Kissee Mills, blocking numerous roadways. Another tree was reported down on a residence in Kirbyville.
Some of the biggest hail stones were recorded in Newton County. Golf ball-size hail, approximately 1 3/4 inches, was reported in Boxley.
Flooding issues were also reported in North Central Arkansas. A listener told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot there was an area around Arkansas Highway 5 South in Mountain Home in which roads were covered with water in the early afternoon.
Flash flooding was also reported in Newton County at around 2 in the afternoon. Law enforcement stated water from Mill Creek was flowing over the bridge on Arkansas Highway 7 at Marble Falls.
Sunday’s storms also knocked out power to many area residents. As of 6 in the evening, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative reported outages to 244 members in Baxter County, 307 in Izard County and 61 in Stone County. Power was out to 31 Entergy Arkansas customers in Baxter County, 49 in Marion County, eight in Izard County, 34 in Searcy County, 681 in Stone County, 29 in Boone County and 44 in Newton County. White River Valley Electric Cooperative reported outages to 406 members in Taney County and one in Douglas County.
