Tueday baseball results include Gainesville winning district title

The Gainesville High School baseball team was able to leave Seymour on Tuesday with the championship trophy from the Class 2, District 10 Tournament. The Bulldogs edged out the host Tigers 3-2. Gainesville will begin the Class 2 State Tournament by hosting its sectional game against the winner of Thursday’s contest between Pilot Grove and Sacred Heart.

Two area teams began action in the Class 5, District 6 Tournament at Branson.
West Plains was able to advance to the semifinals by shutting out Marshfield 4-0. The Zizzers’ next opponent will be top-seeded Willard.
Branson was able to squeak by Bolivar 5-4 in the last game of the day. The host Pirates will be paired with Springfield Glendale in Thursday’s semifinals.

Hollister’s season came to an end on its home field. The Tigers hosted the title game of the Class 4, District 10 Tournament and fell to Logan-Rogersville 9-4.
