
(Yellville-Summit had four athletes compete in the state high school decathlon and heptathlon)
Several area athletes did well at the Arkansas state high school decathlon and heptathlon held Wednesday and Thursday in Fayetteville.
With a total of 65 competitors, Mountain Home’s Robert Dover was the highest finisher as the sophomore claimed 10th place in the decathlon. Lucas McVay from Yellville-Summit finished 15th. Mountain Home’s Dylan McBride finished 22nd. Yellville-Summit’s Caden Curtis was not able to finish competition after rolling his ankle during the triple jump.
In the girls’ heptathlon, out of 78 competitors, Yellville-Summit’s Kambree Gibson was the highest finisher in 15th place. Mountain Home’s Laurel Chafin finished 27th. Yellville-Summit’s KJ Moore was 30th.
