
Unemployment rates in the Twin Lakes Area showed big improvements in the April report which shows rates for the month of March. Every county in the area saw their rates drop, some considerably, from the February numbers.
According to data from the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services, Baxter County had an unemployment rate in March of 3.2%, down from 3.8% in February. There are 522 unemployed residents of Baxter County out of a work force of 16,328. Baxter County’s rate ranks the 21st lowest in Arkansas out of 75 counties.
Marion County’s rate fell from 4.4% in February to 3.5% in March. Marion County has 214 unemployed people out of a work force of 6,088 which ranks tied for 33 lowest in the state.
In Fulton County, there are 155 unemployed residents out of a labor force of 4,941 which equates to a rate of 3.1%, down from 3.5% in February. Fulton County ranks number 19 in the state.
Izard County’s unemployment rate stands at 4.8%, the highest in north central Arkansas, although it’s down a full percentage point from February when it stood at 5.8%. There are 211 unemployed in Izard County out of a work force of 4,370. Izard County is tied for 66th in the state out of 75 counties.
Stone County ranks tied for 51st in the state with an unemployment rate of 3.9%, down from 4.9% in February. Stone County has a labor force of 4,522 with 177 unemployed.
In Searcy County, the rate is 4.1%, down a full percentage rate from 5.1% in February. With 120 unemployed out of a work force of 2,952, Searcy county is ranked 56th in the state.
Boone County’s unemployment rate of 2.5% is tied for 4th lowest in the state. That’s down from 2.9% in February. Boone County has a work force of 15,965 with 394 unemployed.
Newton County has 91 unemployed residents out of a labor force of 3,249. The rate of 2.8%, down from 3.4% in February, is tied for 10th lowest in Arkansas.
Ozark County saw its rate drop from 6.2% in February to 4.9% in March. Ozark County’s labor force is 3,407 with 166 unemployed.
Douglas County’s unemployment rate is at 3.7%, up from 3.4% in February. Douglas County has 5,194 in its work force with 192 out of work.
Howell County’s rate rose from 3.7% in February to 3.9% in March. Howell County has a work force of 16,272 with 630 unemployed.
Taney County had a huge drop in its rate, going from 11.3% in February to 6.7% in March. Taney county has 1,710 unemployed out of a labor force of 25,640.
For the state of Arkansas, the unemployment rate in March stood at 3.1%, unchanged from February.
Missouri’s rate stands at 3.6%, down from 3.7% in February.
