Thirty-year-old Tyler Collins of Harrison is facing several charges in connection with a motorcycle-led police chase in excess of 100 miles per hour.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Boone County deputies were patrolling an area near U.S. Highway 65 when they observed a motorcycle operated by Collins which did not have any vehicle tags. A deputy followed Collins for a while and activated emergency lights and sirens after witnessing Collins fail to stop at a stop sign.
Collins failed to pull over with the use of lights and sirens instead increasing his speed, exceeding the posted speed limit and continuing to drive eastbound on U.S. Highway 43 towards Highway 7 North.
A pursuit was initiated as Collins was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour where he allegedly passed another vehicle in a no passing zone. The deputy continued to pursue Collins who allegedly was driving in the oncoming traffic lane.
The pursuit continued into the community of Zinc where Collins then allegedly drove on the train tracks until he abandoned the motorcycle and began to flee on foot. After a foot pursuit the deputy was able to apprehend Collins.
Collins was booked on the charges of fleeing, fleeing on foot, reckless driving, failure to yield to emergency vehicles, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to register a vehicle and no insurance.
Collins is currently being held in the Boone County Jail with bond set at $25,000.
