Gainesville baseball team falls to Plattsburg, finishes 4th in state

The Gainesville High School baseball team ended up finishing fourth in Missouri’s Class 2 State Tournament on Tuesday. The Bulldogs wrapped up the year at US Baseball Park in Ozark with a 13-5 loss to Plattsburg.

Briar Walrath suffered the defeat after pitching 2 1/3 innings, striking out three batters and giving up four hits, two walks and four earned runs. Wyatt Alms led the Gainesville offense by going 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Jake Leeker was 2-for-4 with a run, Andrew Hambelton ended up going 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, Aden Yarger went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs, and Landry Jenkins walked twice and scored twice.

Gainesville’s final record for the season is 22-8.
