
Former Mountain Home Parks and Recreation Director Billy D. Austin has announced his candidacy for the Mountain Home City Clerk position for the November election.
Austin worked for the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department as a Sports Program Coordinator for seven years before being hired in 2007 as the Director of the Mountain Home Parks and Recreation Department where he worked until his retirement June 30.
Austin says he has a genuine desire to serve the City of Mountain Home as the City Clerk, and he feels his nearly 15 years of public service to the City of Mountain Home is a benefit since he is familiar with the daily operating procedures and personnel.
Austin says he is a very dependable person, and genuinely cares about the city and the future of the city.
Austin says he would like to become the next city clerk to help continue improving the city.
Austin has been married to his wife Bonnie Austin for 46 years. They have an adult son.
The filing period for municipal elections begins August 3.
