A Flippin woman arrested twice on June 3 for possessing drugs appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Thirty-two-year-old Ashley Taylor entered a not guilty plea to one of her drug-related cases in Baxter County.
Taylor also faces the revocation of her 5 year suspended sentence in a 2019 Marion County case in which she was also charged with trying to sneak methamphetamine into the Marion County jail.
The new charges in Baxter County were listed as one of the violations of the terms and conditions of her probation in the Marion County case in which Taylor was accused of hiding drugs in a body cavity that was discovered during a strip search.
During recent court sessions, several inmates who have cases in both Baxter and Marion counties have requested that they be housed in the Marion County jail.
Taylor made the same request Monday, telling Circuit Judge John Putman the food was better in the Marion County facility and inmates had access to television.
GASSVILLE TRAFFIC STOP STARTED IT ALL
The initial event that resulted in Taylor’s Baxter County charges was a traffic stop. Gassville police officer pulled Taylor over for a minor violation, but things got more serious when drugs were found in her possession.
When she was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center after the June 3 traffic stop, Taylor was arrested again when she was found to have smuggled drugs – including methamphetamine – into the jail.
She entered a not guilty plea to charges of furnishing; possessing or using prohibited articles and possession of methamphetamine.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Taylor was warned she could face felony charges if found to be smuggling anything illegal into the jail.
She denied having any contraband on her person.
As Taylor was going through the process of changing into a jail uniform, a small plastic bag fell out of her bra landing on the ground.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Taylor has been approved for the services of a public defender. Her bond is set at almost $17,000.
