A woman accused of becoming irate and hitting her sister with a baseball bat, spraying her with “Bear Mace” and smashing out windows and slashing tires on two of the relative’s vehicles appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Tuesday.

The altercation between the sisters, who live across the road from each other, was reported to have been sparked by a missing watch.

Fifty-three-year-old Angela Wynette Conley pled guilty to the charges against her, including breaking or entering, and was put on four years probation and ordered to pay $1,000 in victim restitution.

Her plea was taken under provisions of Act 346, meaning if Conley stays out of trouble while on probation she can apply to the courts to have her record sealed.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Baxter County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a fight-in-progress call at a home along County Road 13 in early December last year.

The residence was reported to belong to Stacy Conley, the sister of Angela Conley

Angela Conley is reported to have come to her sister’s residence and assaulted her over an allegedly stolen watch.

Stacy Conley has denied stealing a watch belonging to her sister.

Angela Conley told deputies she had come to her relative’s home “because she had stolen my watch and would not give it back.”

After talking to Angela Conley, she was asked to sit in the back of a patrol car while deputies talked to her sister, Stacy.

While in the residence, they heard glass breaking, went outside and reported seeing Angela Conley had gotten out of the patrol car and was using a rock to smash windows in an SUV belonging to her sister.

Pepper spray was also reported to have been used in several locations at Stacy Conley’s residence.

On January 7, Stacy Conley filed a petition seeking an order of protection to keep her sister away from her.

In the affidavit, Stacy Conley enumerated the alleged actions her sister had taken against her and asked she be “protected from this crazy person.”

According to court records, the petition was eventually dismissed for lack of prosecution.

The back and forth between the sisters was described as a continuing confrontation.

On Feb. 11, Angela Conley filed a written report with the sheriff’s office alleging Stacy Conley had stolen a motion sensor from the end of her driveway.

The theft was listed as a misdemeanor.
