Following their dramatic come-from-behind victory at Van Buren on Friday, the Mountain Home High School football team kept its postseason hopes alive. All the Bombers have to do is win their regular season finale this week, and they will get the 6A-West’s No. 6 seek in the playoffs.
In the game at Van Buren, Mountain Home gave up the first 28 points of the game to the Pointers and trailed 42-14 at halftime. The Bombers scored 29 unanswered points in the second half. With less than a minute left Cade Yates ran the ball into the end zone from 12 yards out, and Brady Barnett added a two-point conversion to give Mountain Home a 43-42 victory. Bombers’ head coach Steve Ary says it was a sweet comeback and one for the ages.

Mountain Home will be at home this coming Friday for Senior Night as they host Greenbrier. The Bombers are currently sixth in the 6A-West with a conference record of 2-5, one game ahead of Greenbrier and Van Buren. If Mountain Home wins, they’re in the Class 6A State Playoffs. If they lose, they will need Van Buren to defeat Siloam Springs and rely on a tie-breaker system.
Right now, Ary says the Bombers are in control of their own destiny.
