
Friday night’s thunderstorm activity caused damage to two local businesses and several power outages throughout the area.
A Baxter County Sheriff’s dispatch spokesperson says the businesses are located on Arkansas Highway 5 South in rural Mountain Home. Damage was caused to the ServPro building, and some trees around it were uprooted. The spokesperson also said there was damage to Don’s Welding Service.
No other local reports of structural damage have been received. The Mountain Home Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office say there are trees down in the area.
High winds also led to multiple trees on lines. At one point Friday night, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative reported over 2,700 of its members in Baxter and Izard counties were without power. As of 6:45 Saturday morning, there were three members in Baxter County and one in Fulton County without power.
Several outages were also reported by Entergy Arkansas, with nearly 1,100 at one point in Boone County. As of 6:45 Saturday morning, there were 109 Entergy outages in Marion County, 64 in Izard County, one in Stone County and six in Boone County.
