
Basketball makes up the local Monday schedule and includes the season opener for the Mountain Home High School teams. The Bombers and Lady Bombers begin the campaign by welcoming Batesville to the Twin Lakes Area.
Mountain Home’s girls are coming off a season in which they finished 6-21 and missed the state tournament for the second straight year. Lady Bombers’ head coach Dell Leonard says this year’s team is ready to get the season started after a great offseason.

The Mountain Home boys also weren’t able to make the postseason last year and finished with a record of 3-23. For this year, Bombers’ head coach Josh Fulcher says the team is probably the deepest its been during his tenure at Mountain Home.

The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 5 at Bomber Gymnasium. The varsity contests begin around 6 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Elsewhere on the high school level, Izard County will hold its Black-Grey Games, and Bergman travels to Jasper.
The Marshall Junior High Tournament will get underway Monday. Yellville-Summit meets Shirley for a doubleheader starting with the girls at 4:30, and Mountain View plays back-to-back games against Valley Springs starting at 7.
In other junior high basketball, Cotter hosts Timbo, and Salem entertains Mammoth Spring.
