
A West Memphis man has died after being shot by a passing motorist on westbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 280 at Mound City Road.
According the Arkansas State Police, 21-year-old Yasmon Lewis is believed to have been driving to Memphis to his home in West Memphis when the shooting occurred shortly before 10:30 Monday night.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the homicide and the state medical examiner will determine the manner and cause of death.
State troopers blocked the westbound lanes of I-40 late into the night while CID special agents collected evidence believed to be related to the shooting.
As of Tuesday morning, no suspect who fired into Lewis’ vehicle has been identified.
