A Stone County man was arrested on a felony count of aggravated assault after gunshots were allegedly fired towards the direction of his neighbor after a dispute.

According to the probable cause affidavit the victim reported to the Stone County Sheriff’s Department that his neighbor, 66-year-old Mark Irvin Wright, had accused him of tampering with his air conditioning unit remotely and adjusting the temperature. Wright also accused him of having hidden camera and listening devices to spy on him.

The victim states that while talking to Wright, he saw a black large caliber handgun being brandished by Wright. He began to feel threatened and began to drive away. As he was driving away, the victim heard gunshots being discharged behind him and believed Wright was shooting at him.

After talking with the victim, law enforcement made contact with Wright and confirmed he had an active warrant for terroristic threatening. He was then placed into custody and transported to the Stone County Detention Center. Wright stated he “just wanted to scare” the victim when he fired his weapon.

Wright is being held in the Stone County Detention Center on $50,00 bond.
