O’FALLON, Mo. (AP) — Police shot and killed a man after a standoff at a suburban St. Louis home during the weekend, officials said.

The man, Taylor Lee Shomaker, 32, of St. Charles, was shot Saturday at a home in O’Fallon.

Police went to the home to investigate a report that Shomaker had threatened his parents and a gun had been fired while he argued with his father, St. Charles police Lt. Tom Wilkison said.

The parents left uninjured, and Shomaker barricaded himself inside the home. The St. Charles County Regional SWAT team began negotiations with Shomaker, who went in and out of the home several times.

Shomaker eventually fired at officers, Wilkison said. Five officers fired back, hitting Shomaker, who was pronounced dead.

Three officers from O’Fallon, one for St. Peters and one from St. Charles fired at Shomaker.

The St. Charles County Regional Critical Incident Team — a unit made up of police from seven agencies and St. Charles County investigators — was investigating the shooting.
