
Basketball makes up much of the local Monday schedule and includes three of Mountain Home’s junior high teams on the road for an outing with West Memphis West. The eighth grade girls’ game will begin first followed by both freshman contests.
Elsewhere on the junior high level, Flippin hosts Harrison for three boys’ games, Yellville-Summit entertains Alpena, Marshall travels to Clinton, and Bergman makes the trip to Charleston.
The Izard County Tournament will continue at Cave City. The junior girls’ game between Melbourne and Highland tips off at 4:30, Calico Rock’s junior boys meet the host Junior Cavemen at 5:30, the Izard County senior girls face Highland at 6:30, and Izard County’s senior boys take on Cave City at 7:45.
Two area high schools will compete in the 66th-annual Anstaff Bank Green Forest Holiday Tournament. Omaha will play a doubleheader against Berryville starting with the girls at 4, and Lead Hill will have back-to-back games with Kingston starting at 6:40.
The Valley Springs girls will be in Morrilton for their opener in the 14th-annual Petit Jean Basketball Classic. The Lady Tigers will meet Russellville at 6:30 inside Devil Dog Arena.
In other high school basketball, Bakersfield’s girls head to Thayer, the Gainesville girls are home against Greenwood, and Timbo hosts Rural Special.
