A man facing a large number of charges in five open criminal cases was ordered to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday, but he was a no-show.

Thirty-seven-year-old Alfonso Nicholas Moran, Jr., who has listed several addresses including Mountain Home, was in court for a hearing on allegations that he has violated conditions for his $10,000 cash only bond.

Since he did not show up for the hearing, the bond was forfeited.

Charges in the five cases include fraudulent use of a credit card, forgery, several counts of simultaneous possession of drugs and weapons, possessing a defaced firearm, theft of property, being a felon in possession of a weapon and criminal mischief.

Among his other charges, Moran faces three Class Y Felonies, the most serious classification of crime in Arkansas not punishable by death.

On Nov. 28 it was announced in court that Moran is alleged to be violating requirements that he show up for drug testing every Monday morning and to keep his court-ordered ankle monitor operative.

14th District Prosecutor David Ethredge said that Moran “seems to be thumbing his nose at this court. He always seems to be where he is not supposed to be.”

In the order for him to appear, it is noted Moran had not only allowed the battery on his ankle monitor to die, but had also “removed himself from the jurisdiction of this court by traveling to other states without permission.”

In addition, Paul Bayless, the Mountain Home attorney who has represented Moran on one of his criminal cases, filed a motion to withdraw from that case Monday.

Four of the cases opened on Moran allege violations of the law that took place this year. One case has a violation date of Sept. 1, 2021.
