
Mountain Home was able to sweep three junior high basketball games over West Memphis East on Monday.
The mercy rule was invoked the freshman girls’ game as the Junior Lady Bombers routed the Lady Red Imps 52-22. Laken Anderson led Mountain Home with 20 points, and Jayla Yonkers added 14.
Mountain Home also took the freshman boys’ contest over West Memphis East 52-35. The Junior Bombers were led by Rhett Gilbert with 26 points, Jackson Corp scored 13, and Andrew Haney chipped in 10. Mountain Home improves to 6-7 on the season, and they’ll travel to West Memphis Wonder on Thursday.
Mountain Home also breezed past West Memphis East 44-15 in the eighth grade boys’ game. Koen Bickford was the Eighth Grade Bombers’ top scorer with 11 points. Mountain Home is now 7-3, and their next game will be in 2023 against Batesville.
Mountain Home’s seventh grade teams ended up with a split against Salem. The Seventh Grade Lady Bombers topped the Seventh Grade Lady Greyhounds 22-16. Mountain Home lost the boys’ contest to Salem 28-19.
Mountain Home Christian Academy was swept in three basketball games at Lead Hill.
The Warriors fell to the Tigers 75-45 in the varsity boys’ game. Gabriel Rogers and Kolby Woods led Mountain Home Christian with 13 points each. Quintin Sewell had 28 points for Lead Hill, Augustin provided 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Mason Cain finished with 14 points and 11 assists.
Mountain Home Christian also lost to Lead Hill in the varsity girls’ contest 69-23. The Lady Eagles were led by Caroline Robinson with 15 points. Bella Huebner ended up with 19 points for the Lady Tigers, Lauryn Moon scored 18, and Lily Gray grabbed 13 rebounds.
The evening began with Mountain Home Christian’s boys losing to Lead Hill 56-8. Coda Lemon was the Lady Tigers’ leading scorer with 14 points, Alex Gray had 12, and Brett Arnold added 10.
The Battle of the Border got underway at Mammoth Spring. On the boys’ side, Viola defeated Hillcrest 40-27, and the host Bears pounded Koshkonong 74-41. Viola’s girls fell to Alton 56-51.
