Harrison, Arkansas — Park rangers from Buffalo National River assisted the Jasper Police Department with a Kids, Cops, and Christmas event on Dec. 12. Eight children from Newton County had the opportunity to spend time with park rangers and local law enforcement officers while shopping for items on their Christmas lists. The shopping trip was followed by lunch with local law enforcement officers.Funds for the event were raised by donations to the Jasper Police Department, which were made by residents of Newton County and the surrounding area, and donations from local business owners.

Park rangers participated in a second Kids, Cops, and Christmas event on Dec. 19. The rangers joined the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall Police Department and Arkansas State Police and treated 20 kids to a shopping trip in Clinton.

Noel Mays, Chief of Visitor and Resource Protection says, “These community events are such a great way for park rangers and local youth to connect in a meaningful and fun way around the holiday season.”
