A Baxter County man recently charged with domestic battery is back in trouble after allegedly using a woman’s debit card while she was in the hospital.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a theft of property report was filed against 31-year-old Caleb Joshua Woodell after the victim noticed purchases made on the card while she was in the care of Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Woodell allegedly used the debit card to withdraw cash and make purchases on four different occasions. The withdrawal and purchases totaled $1,849 at First Security Bank and Sportsman’s Liquor. Authorities state on Aug. 20 the card was used to withdraw $602 from the bank and purchase $43.84 worth of items from the liquor store. On Aug. 22 a withdrawal of $602 was again made, and Aug. 23 another withdrawal of $602.

Woodell has admitted to making the withdrawals and advised he would pay the funds back.

He has been released from the Baxter County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
