Tuesday basketball schedule includes MHHS hosting Ultimate Auto Group Basketball Tournament

High school basketball makes up the local Tuesday schedule and includes Mountain Home’s big event between the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will begin hosting the three-day Ultimate Auto Group Basketball Tournament.
The first opponent for Mountain Home’s boys will be Flippin. The Bombers are currently 7-6 on the season after losing to Nettleton eight days ago. The Bobcats are 10-8 after they defeated Rivercrest while hosting the Billy Ply Classic on Dec. 17. Tip-off at Bomber Gymnasium is scheduled for 5:40.
There will be one other boys’ game in the Hangar between Cave City and Greene County Tech at 3. In the junior high gym, Paragould and Greenwood tip off at 3, and Farmington meets Junction City at 5:40.
The Mountain Home girls will be paired with Clinton to wrap up the first day. The Lady Bombers are 7-6 on the year following their loss to Nettleton last week. The Lady Yellowjackets have a record of 9-5 as they come off a win over Van Buren. Gametime is set for 7.
In the other girls’ game at Bomber Gymnasium, Paragould faces Rogers at 4:20. In the junior high gym, Flippin takes on Fair Grove, Missouri, at 4:20, and Salem plays Farmington at 7.

The Arkansas State University-Mountain Home/Arvest Bank Winter Jam will begin its three-day run at the Yellville-Summit Multi-Purpose Facility. The host Junior Lady Panthers go up against Bakersfield’s junior varsity team at 3, Mountain Home Christian Academy’s varsity boys meet Bakersfield at 4:15, and the Yellville-Summit High School teams will have a doubleheader with Lead Hill starting with the girls at 5:30.

The North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament will continue at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. On the boys’ side, the Mountain Home Ten-10 homeschool team tops off at 10 against Marshall, Ozark Mountain faces Valley Springs at 12:40, Mountain View takes on Green Forest at 4:40, and the winner of Monday’s game between Rural Special and Deer will play top-seeded Bergman at 7:20. On the girls’ bracket, Ozark Mountain will be matched up with Marshall at 11:20, and Jasper meets Shirley at 2.

Three area boys’ teams will resume play in the Cabool Holiday Tournament. Dora faces Plato at noon, Viola takes on Salem, Missouri, at 1:30, and Gainesville plays Norwood at 4:30.

Two area girls’ teams will travel to Pea Ridge to begin the Lady Blackhawk Holiday Invitational. Mammoth Spring will be paired with Providence Academy at 2:30, and Viola meets Mena at 4.

Four area boys’ teams will be in action in the Maverick Division of the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational at Highland. Calico Rock faces Melbourne at 3, Izard County takes on Guy-Perkins at 4:15, and Mammoth Spring plays the New School at 5:30.

Gainesville’s girls will compete on the consolation side of the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will go up against Willow Springs at noon.

The Melbourne girls will be back in Jonesboro to make up their second game in the NEA Tournament. The Lady Bearkatz will meet Tuckerman in the Division II quarterfinals on the campus of Arkansas State University. Tip-off at First National Bank Arena is scheduled for 1:30.

Three area boys’ teams will move to the Gold Division’s consolation bracket in the Blue and Gold Tournament at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield. West Plains faces Clever at 5, Branson takes on Crane at 6:30, and Ava plays on Willard at 8.

Three area girls’ teams will begin action in the Pink and White Tournament on the campus of Drury University in Springfield. The Pink Bracket will have its openers in the Weiser Gym as West Plains will be matched up with Willard at 11, and Ava meets Logan-Rogersville at 12:30. Branson’s opener in the White Bracket will be in the O’Reilly Family Event Center as they face Cabot at 8.

Both of Hollister’s teams are set for 3:00 tip-offs in the Walnut Grove Holiday Classic. The Lady Tigers take on Sparta at Ash Grove, and the Hollister boys play Niangua at Morrisville.
