The Izard County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning Tuesday afternoon stating they are investigating several counterfeit bills being passed at local businesses.
The Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook state, all businesses and bartenders need to be observant of the bills being received. If a counterfeit bill is encountered, the bill should be retained and the sheriff’s office should be notified. In addition, if a counterfeit bill has been passed unknowingly, the sheriff’s office should be contacted so they can follow up on the information.
Officials state counterfeit bills come in many different forms. Some may appear normal, but feel inconsistent, while others may have abnormal notations such as “for motion picture use only” or “for training use only.”
Any information regarding the manufacturing or distribution of counterfeit bills should be shared with the Izard County Criminal Investigation Division at 870-368-4203. All tips will remain anonymous.
