
High school basketball makes up much of the local Tuesday schedule, and Mountain Home will be wrapping up its current home stand. The Bombers and Lady Bombers continue conference play as they welcome Russellville to the Twin Lakes Area.
The girls’ teams are currently tied for third in the 5A-West. Mountain Home is 11-8 on the season and 2-1 in the league. The Lady Bombers breezed past Van Buren on Friday. Russellville is 15-4 and 2-1. The Lady Cyclones are coming off a seven-point win at Alma.
The boys’ squads are part of a three-way tie for fifth place in the conference with Alma. Mountain Home is 10-9 overall and 1-2 in the 5A-West. The Bombers got beat by Van Buren on Friday. Russellville is 13-5 and 1-2. The Cyclones suffered an eight-point defeat to the Airedales four nights ago.
The junior varsity girls’ game tips off at 5:15 at Bomber Gymnasium. The varsity contests begin around 6 and will be on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Also in the 5A-West, Harrison travels to Greenbrier, Siloam Springs hosts Greenwood, and Alma makes the short trip to Van Buren.
After having a first round bye, Bakersfield will play in the semifinals of the Houston Community Foundation Boys’ Basketball Tournament. The top-seeded Lions will take the floor at 6:30.
Bakersfield’s girls will compete in the semifinals of the Cabool Classic. The Lady Lions face the host Lady Bulldogs at 8:30.
Elsewhere, the Mountain Home Christian Academy girls head to Gainesville, Cotter entertains Eureka Springs, Norfork is home against Calico Rock, Flippin hosts Bergman, Yellville-Summit travels to Haas Hall-Rogers, Viola makes the trip to Timbo, Gainesville’s boys head to Willow Springs, Ozark Mountain travels to Greenland, Salem entertains Walnut Ridge, Izard County makes the trip to Mount Vernon-Enola, Melbourne is home against Tuckerman, Marshall entertains White County Central, Mountain View heads to Cave City, Rural Special hosts Concord, Lead Hill entertains Omaha, Valley Springs is home against Green Forest, and Jasper hosts Alpena.
