
The Mountain Home High School basketball teams had mixed results on Friday as they went to Greenwood.
The Bombers won the boys’ game over the Bulldogs 63-51. The game was kept close early on as Mountain Home ended the opening quarter with a two-point lead. The Bombers started inching further away as they went into the locker room up nine at the break, and they eventually picked up the double digit victory.
Braiden Dewey led Mountain Home with 20 points, and Ryder McClain and McGee Harris added 11 each.
The Bombers improve to 11-10 on the season and 2-3 in the 5A-West. Greenwood falls to 5-14 and 0-5.
The night was rougher for Mountain Home’s girls as they lost to 78-34 to the Lady Bulldogs, the top-ranked team in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media. Greenwood, also ranked fourth in the state overall, took control of the game from the start. The Lady Bulldogs finished the first half with a 30-point lead. The mercy was in effect the moment the final period started, and Greenwood went on to win by 44.
The Lady Bombers were led by Amelia Rucker with 13 points.
Mountain Home drops to 11-10 overall and 2-3 in the league. The Lady Bulldogs are now 18-2 and 5-0.
Mountain Home will be back on the road on Tuesday for an outing with Greenbrier.
In other 5A-West girls’ action, Harrison fell to Van Buren 59-55, Alma breezed past Greenbrier 51-30, and Siloam Springs beat Russellville 51-42. On the boys’ side, Harrison was a 59-50 winner over Van Buren, Greenbrier topped Alma 49-43, and Siloam Springs defeated Russellville 45-38.
