Freezing mix possible beginning Monday night

A chance of freezing precipitation is returning to the Twin Lakes Area. Meteorologist Justin Condrey says there is a slight chance of sleet Sunday night, but the greatest chance will begin Monday night.

Currently, Condrey says this is a low confidence forecast, and the National Weather Service expects to know more later on Sunday. He says meteorologists expect some parts of Arkansas to see freezing rain over the next few days.

It’s been just over 14 years since the ice storm of 2009 hit Arkansas and Missouri and knocked out power to thousands of residents throughout both states. Condrey says meteorologists are not expecting anything of that magnitude, but the potential for ice is there.
